A tried and true classic floor: Hardwood flooring

There is something about wood floors that speaks for themselves. The grains and hues are as beautiful as they are long-lasting, and they can create a feel to a room that runs from formal and elegant to rustic. They are also renewable resources as most companies are intentional about replanting after they have harvested the trees. Further still, many real estate agents consider them to be a permanent floor, increasing the overall sale value of your home.

Many colors and species from which to choose

Gone are the days when the only options in hardwood flooring were oak and pine. Today, we can offer you domestic and exotic species options, each with its unique grain pattern. We offer oak and pine if that is what you love, but you also have options in maple, hickory, walnut, Brazilian cherry, acacia, and kupay. When various stain colors are added to these species, a wide variety of options will quickly unfold before your eyes.

If you desire a unique look, hand distressing is also an option. The material is scraped and belted to add texture and the appearance of many years of wear — essentially making the wood look antique. Then it is hand-refinished to provide you with the strength and protection of a new floor along with the personality and character of a much older piece of material. You need to see examples of this process to appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into the flooring.

What about the basement?

Traditionally, hardwoods have been relegated to above-level rooms with a subfloor into which the slats can be secured. Modern engineering has addressed this limitation with engineered wood flooring. The flooring is attached to a backing protecting it from moisture while allowing it to be installed either as a glue-down floor or a floating floor. They can also be nailed down traditionally and bring with them all of the benefits of traditional hardwood.
